The demise of Justin Bieber as a thing has been greatly exaggerated. Most male pop singers don’t get to last in the spotlight without a bit of reinvention and Bieber’s grand shift into making smooth, bedroom and emotive R&B has been the spark that has welcomed in an entirely new fan base to him. Does this displace his horde of fans who will do anything the Canadian singer does, even cut themselves after a reported “retirement” on Twitter? Not at all.
Journals, his week-by-week singles affair turned into a full fledged album marked his most mature sounding album to date, a slow jam contender that if crafted by anyone else other than Bieber would be wildly respected and placed upon year-end lists galore. Leave it to DJ Auditory, he of the damn near internet breaking Beyoncé release of a little less than a month ago to pick up where Bieber’s coos and teases towards emotional and sexual satisfaction left off. His version of Journals, digs into that same sort of enjoyable sleaze and sensuality any screwed and chopped release from him comes with.
